MDU Rohtak Maharshi Dayanand University initially known as Rohtak University, was established in 1976 after act 25 of 1975 of the Haryana legislative assembly. MDU Rohtak has been accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with an A+ grade. It was renamed Maharshi Dayanand University in 1977 after the name of the great philosopher and social leader Maharshi Dayanand. On 16th March 1979, this university got recognition by University Grant Commissions. MDU secured 35th position in the pharmacy category and 96th position in the university category of NIRF Ranking 2023. MDU Rohtak offers admission to various diploma, postgraduate, undergraduate and doctoral programmes. Admission to the courses is determined by the results of a national-level examination, an interview, and counselling. For several MDU Rohtak courses admission, the university administers the MDU CEE entrance exam; however, for some programmes, admission is determined by merit. Based on the results of the entrance exams, Maharshi Dayanand University creates a merit list, which is followed by a counselling process. Maharshi Dayanand University placement is managed by the career counselling and placement cell which assists students with their preparation for their education and careers. MDU campus is spread across 622 acres with state-of-the-art buildings connected by a well-built road network. MDU Rohtak campus includes 12 teaching blocks, 19 hostels, a spectacular Vivekananda library with six offshoots, a huge Tagore auditorium, a student activity centre, a health centre etc.
